Bike rentals are available at the Nantahala Outdoor Center and the nationally known Tsali mountain bike area is nearby. The John Campbell Folk School is just minutes away where you can watch artisans at work and visit the craft shop. |

For fishing, there are plenty of mountain trout streams nearby. And nearby lakes — Nantahala, Chatuge, Fontana and Hiwassee — where you can rent a boat and try your hand at mountain lake fishing. There are any number of nature hikes and walks in the area, including the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest. But if you prefer to ride, there are several stables that offer horseback riding trips into the Smoky Mountains. Several mountain golf courses are nearby.

The Cherohala Skyway offers a 40+ mile scenic drive that rivals the Blue Ridge Parkway. Fields of the Wood, is a Bible Park where God's word is displayed on the mountainsides. There are many pottery, woodworking, dulcimer, painting, and hand-blown glass studios and galleries. Numerous antique dealers offer folk art to classic collectibles.
A one-hour drive The Cherokee Indian Reservation offers an Indian Village, Outdoor Drama and Casino. The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad offers scenic excursions through the mountains. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park has many hiking trails, scenic drives, tubing and fishing spots, and a mountain farm museum. |
